RC11 Newsletter Editor - Andreas Hoff (UK / Germany)

Andreas Hoff is a Senior Research Fellow of the Oxford Institute of Ageing (OIA) where he directs the Research Programme "Intergenerational Relationships, Families and Communities".

Andreas’ main research interests are: intergenerational relationships and informal care, both within the family and in the wider community; the reconciliation of family care and employment throughout the life course; migrant care workers; social exclusion/inclusion of older people; European welfare state / care regimes; and population ageing and social implications in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Accordingly, Andreas coordinates the “Eastern-European Ageing Societies in Transition” (EAST) research network.

Dr Hoff (together with Dr Leeson) is teaching the ‘Population Ageing’ option of the M.Sc. Sociology at Oxford and is supervising D.Phil. students. Andreas has been been RC11 Newsletter Editor since 2002. He was Chair of the RC11 Scientific Programme Committee of the First ISA World Forum, held in Barcelona, September 2008 and of the XVI ISA World Congress of Sociology held in Durban, South Africa, July 2006 and was involved in organising the RC11 Inter-congress meeting in Surrey, UK, September 2004.

Andreas is from Germany originally and has been working in Oxford since 2005. He holds a PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) and a Masters in Sociology from the University of Leipzig.
