Welcome from RC11 President Anne Martin-Matthews
Dear RC11 members and other visitors to the RC11 website,
Welcome to the website of RC11, the Research Committee on Aging of the International Sociological Association (ISA). This site is designed to provide information about our mission and mandate, the history of RC11, our organizational structure and bylaws, and our membership. This research community is a very vibrant and engaged group of international scholars representing about 150 sociologists of aging from over 30 countries.
The main focus of RC11 activities revolves around the ISA World Congresses, and inter-congress meetings, such as the highly successful Inter-Congress meeting of RC11 in Barcelona 2008 and the World Congress in Sweden in 2010. In our current four year planning cycle, our executive and members are preparing the programme for RC 11 for the ISA’s inter-Congress meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to be held August 1 - 4, 2012. We are also looking ahead to ISA’s World Congress in Yokohama, Japan, from July 13-19, 2014. More information about RC11 conferences are on this website, as are links to other relevant meetings on aging.
Members of RC11 are kept informed of important deadlines and international research activities in aging through our Newsletter, distributed twice yearly. You will find a link on this website ( see: http://www.rc11-sociology-of-aging.org/newsletters).
The RC11 Executive Board and Members at Large are always interested to hear from members, and others interested in the activities of RC11. Please feel free to contact me, or any of us, with your queries and interest in ways to advance international activities in the sociology of aging.
